PlayStation 2k v3 Winamp Skin

The creation of this skin has been a great experience, representing an exercise in creating functional graphics around spatial constraints. In the end, artists should make skins that are functional and not just pretty.

As of this writing, PlayStation 2 remains the market leader, but this is partly because it has been available longer than its competitors, Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's Gamecube. The Dreamcast was discontinued and Sega shifted its business model to create only software, which has always been its strength. This will likely benefit owners of the other big three consoles because they will be able to play Sega games that would otherwise be exclusive to Dreamcast.

Version History:

v3 March 28, 2002
I was never quite happy with the appearance of the main window, so I improved it to appear more as an interlaced flat screen and made the control buttons more user-friendly. This took away the two LEDs (there were too many) and made the whole thing easier to look at. Mikroamp buttons and MBinner are also included. Other minor changes were made, as well.

v2 February 18, 2001
The second version fixed some inconsistencies with the PS2 console design, such as the ugly, flat, square buttons on the playlist.

v1 July 13, 2000
I submitted this initial design to Winamp.com prior to PS2's official domestic launch date, October 26, 2000. It included all necessary components in Winamp 2.64: main window, equalizer, playlist, minibrowser, and wvs.
